To make sure these modem drivers aren't installed (in device manager) and if they are then uninstall them again. Anytime I plug my phone into my computer now to transfer files or anything I have SonicWALL has been working fine ever since uninstalling the Samsung mobile modem drivers I think it was called. Whatever reason having these 2 "modems" was causing conflicts.

Plugging phone into the computer would cause Samsung "modem" drivers to install in case you wanted to tether cell phone to computer for internet access. What appears to have been causing the issue was my cell phone drivers as odd as it sounds. Windows seemed to treat connection as a modem. So quick recap, SonicWALL installs and works for short period of time and then stops working and requires reinstall to work again.

So hopefully if anyone else has this problem and googles it then this will maybe help them out.
#Sonicwall netextender license update#
Well I never did update this since I honestly forgot about this post but I did end up finding what was causing the issue. Anyone got any ideas? All I've been able to assume up to this point is there is an issue within windows 8.1 and using anything that gets labeled as a modem. Going through device manager it still shows SonicWall Netextender Adapter under the network adapters and says the drivers are good and everything Install there is the little phone icon but after a few hours and it stops working that phone icon has a red X over it. SonicWALL security appliances come with a reset button located in a small hole next to the console port or next to the power supply. I noticed this on netextenders "advanced network settings" as after I do a fresh You can reset the security appliance by pressing and holding the reset button on the back for five to ten seconds with a narrow, straight object, such as a straightened paper clip or toothpick. I have noticed it almost appears that windows 8.1 treats netextender like it is a modem and after a few hours it deactivates that modem and I cannot get it to reactive. I have been trying to figure out why it works and then stops working but haven't exactly been able to figure it outĪs of yet. Working in windows 8.1 if I uninstall it, reinstall it, restart my computer, I am then able to use it without any problems for several hours. So to start with some information, everything used to work on Windows 8 no problem using Netextender version 7.0.196. I hope some of those clues will help you.So I have to use Dell SonicWall Netextender for work and I have been having issues using it since the update to 8.1.

I have also tried the version of NetEx that gets installed from the portal, as well as the latest version from mysonicwall. However, the issue is the same when using a "LocalUser" from the sonicwall device. The workstations I am testing from are not domain joined (to the domain doing the LDAP auth). It is possible the problem is related to Auth scheme.Īnother possibility I haven't been able to test yet, related to the above, is that the reason is related to the computer trying to connect not being a member of the domain. This problem seemed to start after enabling LDAP+LocalUsers Auth (was LocalUsers). I thought this might be related to time so I checked the config on the firewall and DC and everything was in perfect sync, so I don't think that is the issue.

I would just try and try and eventually it would work. I have had some seemingly random success. I have had some success with a simple reboot: close NetExtender, Reboot. I wish I had a more complete answer for you, but I have the same problem, and it's not 100% resolved.
